More than 3,000 deaths per year are referred to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office. Those deaths include Investigated Deaths, where a deputy coroner responds to various locations involved with the occurrence, and Reportable Deaths, where a deputy coroner will gather specific information about the case without necessarily going to the location of the death.
