Jefferson County, CO--Tomorrow, Saturday, December 19, 2009 will be remembered by all at Jefferson County Public Health as the culminating event in our 2009 efforts to protect our communities from H1N1 influenza. It is the last day of our free and open to the public, school-located H1N1 clinics being offered at Alameda, Arvada, Columbine and Evergreen High Schools. Yes, now that vaccine supplies have increased, there will be plenty more opportunities to receive vaccine, but for Jefferson County Public Health this is the last of our mass clinics.
Planning, preparing, building partnerships and planning some more have contributed to our success in distributing to date, 131,287 doses of H1N1 vaccine via healthcare providers, special clinics for priority groups and school-located clinics. “We have plenty of vaccine available for the clinics this Saturday and we hope everyone takes the opportunity to join us in the fight against H1N1 and come and get vaccinated for free” said, Christine Billings, Jefferson County Public Health epidemiologist.
Based on past clinics, Jesse Weaver, Jefferson County Public Health Emergency Planner does not anticipate long lines for the school-located clinics this Saturday, “December 12th was a big day for us, we were able to administer 8,295 doses of H1N1 vaccine from four locations in just six hours.” During the clinic on December 12, each of the three larger sites (Columbine, Arvada, Alameda) demonstrated the capacity to continually move more than 500 people per hour through the vaccination process. “All tolled this means our four sites are able to process more than 1,750 citizens hourly across the County, ” said Weaver.
Jefferson County Public Health extends its gratitude to all of those who have taken advantage of previous clinics or have otherwise helped in the fight against H1N1 this season.
